“A narrow majority of Supreme Court justices took a decision that will be a stain on the court for decades,” says national community organizing network

WASHINGTON, DC -- In response to the Supreme Court’s ruling upholding Trump’s travel ban today, the Center for Popular Democracy released the following statement from Co-Executive Director Ana Maria Archila:
"Today, a narrow majority of Supreme Court justices took a decision that will be a stain on the court for decades. In upholding the Muslim Ban, the Supreme Court sided with the Trump administration in their relentless attacks on Black and Brown communities and the values we as a nation hold dear. It's just another extension of the Trump administration's efforts to separate children from their parents and put families in cages.
But they will not win. This decision will in no way deter us from the fight to make all immigrants feel welcome in this country and ensure all immigrant communities have the freedom to thrive. If anything, it is even more proof that we need to fight for institutions that represent all of us - not those that carry out an agenda of white supremacy. We and the grassroots organizations we represent have helped keep the Trump administration's worst impulses in check and we will continue to fight until all our communities can live with the dignity and respect they deserve."
