CAMP! Tracks

New Organizer Training:  June 11-13, 2018
The New Organizers Training is designed to support new base-building organizers working at CPD partner organizations. The training will focus on organizing fundamentals and has been developed for new organizers with a year or less of experience. Over the course of two and a half days, participants will learn skills required for effective base building. Organizers will learn core skills; how to build lists of potential members, how to do effective outreach, how to have compelling one on one meetings with potential leaders, how to prepare and facilitate successful meetings, how to develop member’s leadership and how to manage their time effectively. Throughout our training, we will be role playing and practicing hands-on skills. Attending all sessions and completing requested prep ahead of time is required and will make organizer’s training experience more fulfilling and effective.

Lead Organizer Training:  June 11-13, 2018
This training is designed to provide Lead Organizers with key skills to build teams, develop strategic campaigns, and grow as organizational leaders. From this inaugural training,  we hope to launch a space for ongoing peer support among Lead Organizers from throughout the network.  This 2.5 day training will run concurrently with Camp CPD's New Organizer training and provides an opportunity for teams of Leads and Field Organizers to advance their skills and communities of practice simultaneously. This session is designed for both new and established Lead Organizers.

Communications Training and Cohort Kick Off:  June 13-15, 2018
This training will help equip communicators in the CPD network to gain more exposure for their organization and better tell the stories of their members. Over the course of several sessions, we will review the nuts and bolts of strategic communications, looking at how to craft a public narrative for your organization and develop a plan for earning media coverage and building digital engagement. We'll also explore a variety of tools to better lift up members, including online-to-offline organizing, rapid response models and templates, training spokespeople for media interviews, beginner videography, graphic design basics (with free tools), live-streaming, and text messaging for turnout. The session will include a Q&A with a panel of reporters. It's designed for mid-level digital and media communicators.

Politics Training and Cohort Kick Off:  June 13-15, 2018
As we are quickly embarking on the 2018 election cycle, we are thinking about how to best prepare for the electoral efforts ahead. In preparation for this year’s c4 activities, we would like to ensure that our partners in the state have the resources and training they need to build greater membership, power, long-standing infrastructure and elect progressive representation to create a purposeful policy to better the lives for working people. This training will be designed for political directors and staff planning to engage in electoral programming. We would like the participants to sharpen electoral skills, discuss their political plans with each other to discover successful practices and challenges and begin to develop a better political cohort.

Development Training and Cohort Kick Off:  June 13-15, 2018
The Development cohort training is designed to support fundraisers in their ability to run a high performing development shop that is fully integrated within their organization. Over the course of four sessions, lasting 1.5 - 2 hours each, participants will strengthen their annual fundraising plan, learn about and discuss new prospecting opportunities, explore funding trends in philanthropy and build supportive peer-to-peer relationships with other fundraising participants. Woven throughout our time together, there will be time for “Curious Q&A”, role playing and workshopping case statements. This session is designed for senior level development staff/Executive Directors or folks who hold a general responsibility to fundraise for their organization. Attending all four sessions and completing requested prep ahead of time is strongly encouraged.
By invitation.  Please contact Sheena Brown at sborwn@populardemocracy.org for more information.

CPD Emerging Leaders Cohort (formerly ED/DD): June 13-15, 2018
We invite emerging organizational leaders and leaders of emerging organizations to join a community designed to provide a space to reflect, to receive support and training, to share your goals and be challenged to exceed them and to invest in your leadership in order to invest in the sustainability, power and success of your organization. From June 2018 to June 2019, CPD’s Emerging Leaders Cohort will include four in person sessions, monthly check-ins and programming, peer support, and mentorship from senior CPD network leaders. This community will be comprised of organizational leaders-- traditionally Executive Directors and Deputy Directors but also any senior staffer responsible for setting vision, and ensuring the strong implementation of robust organizing operations. As we are tasked with outrunning our opponents in this Resistance moment, while charting a course forward that shapes a world in which our communities thrive, the Emerging Leaders community in particular will focus on building organizational strength through excellent organizing programs and robust member and staff development. Curriculum will include: membership model development, financial management and fundraising, resource generation beyond institutional funding, equitable and progressive human resources, creating a healthy organizational culture, and building geographic alignment among other topics. By invitation.
