The Center for Popular Democracy’s Fair Workweek Initiative (FWI) seeks an Organizing Director to drive worker-driven corporate accountability campaigns to restore a sustainable workweek for the country’s hourly workforce.

Job Responsibilities


The Corporate Strategies Director will develop and drive our industry change strategy that incorporates both campaigns and employer engagement to restore a fair workweek in low-wage service sectors. 


Working with community and labor partners, the Director will advance national and local campaigns that are driven by worker leadership and grassroots mobilizations that integrate research, legal, digital and communications strategies. 


The Director will also engage the private sector in developing and implement technology and management solutions that deliver a family-sustaining workweek.


The Director will play a hands-on role with CPD community partner organizations implementing worker-driven strategies.


The Corporate Strategies Director will report to the Director of the Fair Workweek Initiative and collaborate with a range of colleagues at CPD.


Duties will include:


  • Advancing national and local worker-driven campaigns to raise work hours standards in the service sector along with a broader public education campaign to raise awareness about fair workweek issues.
  • Working with grassroots partners to implement these campaigns through staff training and coaching, providing essential campaign tools and coordination with other groups.
  • Providing the infrastructure for Fair Workweek campaign partners to collaborate, coordinate strategies. Work with the Organizing Director, organize national days of action, and convene national committee calls and meetings of member leaders.

  • Collaboration with communications and digital teams to incorporate digital tools and media to advance campaigns
  • Establishing and managing innovative research partnerships to: build the business, social and economic case for more sustainable workforce management practices; deepen our understanding of the workforce strategies that promote employee mobility and stability.
  • Providing support to the Deputy Director of policy campaigns on field, coalition, political, and media work related to municipal, state and federal policy campaigns.
  • Collaborating with the FWI Director on fundraising efforts to support the national program and re-grant resources to partners in the field. This includes: identifying private and public funding sources, writing and submitting proposals.

 


Qualifications


We seek outcome-driven candidates with excellent relationship-building skills. Ideal candidates should have demonstrated experience in the following:


  • 8-10 years of relevant campaign experience, including 2-3 years experience in worker organizing, 5 years of managerial-level experience on comprehensive campaigns
  • Experience utilizing comprehensive campaign strategies to drive campaigns.
  • Knowledge or strong interest in new digital organizing tools.
  • A strong commitment to social justice and an understanding of challenges facing caregivers, communities of color, and low-and moderate-income families.
  • Extensive experience supervision and navigating organizational partnerships.
  • A track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and ability to coordinate with partners
  • Strong writing skills for public education, digital organizing, and earned media.
  • Experience with earned media, social media, multimedia and/or creative communications strategies.
  • Foundation and other fundraising experience a plus.

 


Generous salary and benefits package, depending on experience. This position involves travel.
