Data Coordinator – Immigration Executive Action Program

The Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) builds organizing power to transform the local, state, and national policy landscape through deep, long-term partnerships with leading community organizing groups and progressive labor unions nationwide.

The Center for Popular Democracy is hiring Data Coordinators who will deploy the data and technology components of a multi-state campaign to implement President Obama’s Executive Action on immigration, which will improve the lives of an estimated 5 million immigrants. The Data Coordinators will work with the national Executive Action team and will be responsible for coordinating the data and technology components of a field outreach campaign to reach 400,000 immigrants and provide assistance to 40,000 immigrants to apply for Deferred Action for Child Arrivals/Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DACA/DAPA). The responsibilities will include configuring, deploying, and supporting technology to be used in field canvassing, immigration law screening, and member sign up; helping to manage the field canvass; assisting in the operations setup of the application assistance centers; and managing and analyzing data . Strong candidates must be familiar with manipulating and analyzing large data sets, managing projects involving multiple parties, and be able to quickly understand and pick up new technology. Preference will be given to individuals with electoral or similar field experience on large campaigns.

Primary Responsibilities

The Data Coordinators will report to the Director of Immigration Executive Action Program and will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage field canvass technology setup and deployment to partner organizations;
  • Provide technical support to field canvass team on use of canvassing tools where needed;
  • Analyze data and recommend where resources should be targeted;
  • Manage incoming data – deduplicate, match, and enhance data with other incoming data streams;
  • Manage the deployment and setup of a DACA/DAPA eligibility screening tool and database (likely on the Salesforce.com platform) at partner organizations;
  • Assist in configuring and coordinating application center intake and direct service immigration law operations;
  • Provide technical support to application assistance centers; and
  • Review and analyze data and report on the progress of application center processing.

Job Requirements

  • A demonstrated commitment to social and racial justice issues and understanding of challenges facing immigrant communities, communities of color, and low-and moderate income families;
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in electoral, civic engagement, union or community organizing, or political campaigns;
  • Experience managing large projects involving multiple parties;
  • Experience manipulating, managing, and analyzing large datasets;
  • Experience working in database platforms;
  • Familiarity with the latest digital organizing tools and best data and technology practices in the field;
  • Tech-savvy – ability to quickly learn and understand new technology;
  • Proficient in Excel;
  • Ability to work within a coalition of diverse organizations and partners;
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented;
  • Results-focused and organized;
  • Experience with the Salesforce.com platform a plus;
  • Exposure to or familiarity with programming a plus;
  • Experience in direct services a plus.

Position preferably will be based in Brooklyn, NY.
