The Digital Engagement Manager will serve as our lead online fundraising strategist and email writer for our c4 digital program. This person will own The ideal candidate for this role is an excellent online fundraiser and writer with a strong interest in promoting economic and racial justice. You’ll work with two other digital teammates and have opportunities to collaborate with teams across the organization on a variety of projects.

 

This position will report to the Digital Campaign Director and will be based in our Washington, DC, office. Excellent candidates in New York and remote locations will also be considered.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Email communications and management: serve as the lead email writer on all content, develop and execute tests to increase performance, and stage and send emails; execute tests and experiments and report out findings to the broader team; and manage an editorial calendar.
     
  • Online fundraising: write effective fundraising emails that encourage our members to donate to our campaigns; cultivate online donors; and manage donor data and list segmentation.
     
  • List health and data management: analyze metrics to make recommendations on how to improve open and action rates; effectively onboard new members to our list; ensure proper segmentation and tagging of members as they take action or join our list; and run reengagement campaigns to keep our list active.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with members of the communications, campaigns, and research teams to move campaigns forward.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Campaign Director and Digital Content Manager in growing and shaping the overall digital strategy.
  • Support our c3 online communications as necessary.

 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years work experience for progressive organizations, candidates, or issues in a digital or communications role.
  • Experience developing and executing successful online fundraising campaigns.
  • Superb writing and communications experience for a variety of channels.
  • Understanding of email writing, social media, and fundraising best practices.
  • Issue-advocacy experience in racial justice, economic justice, or corporate accountability.
  • Commitment to a progressive vision of racial and economic justice.
  • Experience in, or knowledge of, community organizing.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Willingness and desire to learn new technologies, tactics, and strategies to apply to our campaigns.
  • Expertise with email advocacy tools (Blue State Digital, Salsa, EveryAction, NationBuilder, etc.) and online fundraising tools.

 

Bonus qualifications, not required:

  • Knowledge of design programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and others.
  • Knowledge of programming languages: HTML, SQL, PHP, and others.
  • Photography and video editing.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
